Not Participating in Sport
Under guidance from the Government and the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the Club’s Governing Body, spectators at sports activities are not currently permitted. Similar guidance has also been communicated by the RFU and LTA.
Who is permitted to attend organised outdoor sports activity in England?
- A parent, suitable adult or carer attending in a supervisory role for an u18 player or a player with a disability (maximum 1 adult per u18 player)
- Those attending for hospitality where available, subject to following the club’s and the government’s guidance
- A club official/volunteer who is organising on and/or off-field activities
The sporting clubs have jointly agreed a policy that spectators should not attend matches or training sessions with the exception of a single parent per child under 18. In this situation, we would ask that they remain distanced from the cricket or other sports activities and socially distanced from any other parents who may be present.
Any parent who is present for a match or a training session at Old Deer Park or the Newman Cricket Ground (at Christ’s School) must check in on arrival using the available NHS QR Code Posters that will be available at these grounds.
From 17th April at Old Deer Park, parents and other patrons will be able to sit in the outdoor bar area of the pavilion and watch the sports activities, subject to following the rules relating to the operation of the bar and cafe.
It is very important that any parents attending as above do not become involved in the sports activities. If you feel you need to provide support to your child, please ensure that the child comes to you rather than you enter the group of children who are engaged in the sports activities.
We ask for everyone’s co-operation in this regard. You will understand that our focus is on the sport activities and we do not want to be diverted by having to deal with parents and others who are not prepared to follow the rules that the Government and sports governing bodies have laid down.
